It covers the theory (physics) of infra red photography and IR photography in practice. There are a number of specific considerations for IR photography as described in the materials attached:

Adjusting the white balance
The effect of different filters that operate in the IR area

As a general rule cameras have a filter built in to block infrared wavelengths. With a few cameras it is possible to temporarily disengage that filter using a magnet.

It is also possible to simulate infrared photography (to some extent) with post processing.

However, most people use an old camera that has been modified to remove the IR filter allowing IR light to hit the sensor. There are specialist services that do this, costing £100-200ish.
