Malvern Hills Repair Café

Completely off topic ...

A volunteering opportunity without too much commitment, that gives you the chance to meet lots of interesting people while doing something worthwhile. Sound interesting? Then read on ...
The Malvern Hills Repair Café was one of the first in the country when it started 10 years ago. I started working with the team about 2 years later. We run a session every month at The Cube for a Saturday morning. People bring things along and we do our best to fix them. We tackle a very wide range of items, but particularly favour things that would not be economic to repair normally and would otherwise end up at the tip. The group is run entirely by volunteers and we are always on the lookout for new recruits. We're looking for broadly two types of volunteer:
1) Front of house staff to greet customers, help organize the queue of repairs, make coffee or generally be useful. No repairing skills are expected.
2) Repairers who can fix various types of item: electrical, mechanical, sewing, woodwork, toys ... Whatever skill you have, we can probably use it!
A key thing we look for in volunteers is reliability. That does not mean you have to commit to being there every month, but you need to show up when you have agreed to do so.
It's a very positive environment. We are a team working together to do something good for the environment. And we have a lot of happy customers.
