Affinity

I'm pondering buying this and dumping the mighty Adobe.

However, the trial runs like a dog on my quite well spec'd machine - 16Gb Ram with an SSD and an i7.

Anyone else have this problem ?

My difficulty is only on opening the image, which can take up to 10 minutes !!! Afterwards, processing and saving is as quick as I expect.

Thoughts ?
I think I may need professional help ..... A chef, a butler and a maid should do it !

Crikey. I can't image what might be wrong. Have you got loads of other stuff running concurrently, chewing up your RAM, mayhaps?

I have Affinity running and it's like lightning opening images. Shall I turn up early on Satdee and take a look?

I sometimes use Affinity, still learning. Photoshop CS4 is a tiny bit quicker, but doesn’t support Luts, Affinity does. So far Affinity upgrades have been free... but some things are better in PS - stitching panoramas, etc.
My workflow is usually RAW convert and global tonal etc adjustments in DxO and then tidy up in Affinity, that also supports Nik plugins.
I think the cost of renting Adobe software is usury.

Strange, I found Affinity better than PS (CS6) for stitching panoramas, and a *LOT* better at focus stacking.
Both are useable and useful though, but neither is ideal for "serious" stitching or stacking. For that I'd recommend PTGui and Zerene Stacker respectively.
Knowledge is cheap. Experience isn't.
